The Biology–Science of Nature in Plants and Animals 1st Grade Kit provides students with the opportunity to become researchers as they investigate how animals and plants are built to survive. They will investigate the different ways that young animals are cared for by their parents and they will use evidence form conclusions about topics. Students will continue to discover how young plants and animals are similar to and different from their parents. They will then investigate the structure and function of animals as they explore the specific behaviors and body parts birds use for survival. Through hands-on activities and investigations, students will build nests, investigate bird eyes and beaks, and learn how camouflage can be used to keep animals safe. They also will look closely at plants to discover how plant parts help plants survive. Students will participate in research, data collection and analysis, experimentation, and collaboration in this fun-filled kit.
